Gas vs Electric Clothes Dryers Park Ridge?

Having to choose between a gas and electric dryer can be a daunting task especially if you are not familiar with how these appliances work and hearing conflicting opinions from people makes things even more difficult to figure out.

In fact, I learned there is no “best” dryer for everyone. It all comes down to what mattered most to your home and wallet. After deep research into this subject here is what I came up with:

• Choose an Electric dryer If…

You want the lowest initial purchase and installation cost if you don’t have a gas line where you want to put the dryer).

You want to take advantage of up to $300 in electric dryer rebates for ENERGY STAR models.

You want a simple setup, just plug it in and you are done.

• Choose a Gas dryer If…

You already have a gas hookup in your laundry room.

You do many loads of laundry and prioritize the lowest possible long-term operating cost.

You want the fastest drying time for every load.

To illustrate this further here are two customers in Park Ridge who have different situations and different needs when it comes to clothes dryers:

Mrs. Brown who lives in an older house, swore by the familiar comfort of a Gas Dryer. She said: “It dries my thick towels in a blink!” and in Illinois, natural gas is often cheaper than electricity, so my long-term bills are lower are lower. Mrs. Brown gas dryer was in fact a speed demon. It blasted hot air and finished a load of jeans in a record time.

However, Miss Rousseau, who is a high school teacher and lives in a newly renovated home, was choosing a brand-new Electric Dryer, specifically a high-tech model with a heat pump said: “My house isn’t already set up with a gas line in the laundry room,” she’d explain. “So, for me, electric is much easier to install and the cheapest upfront cost because I do not have to hire a costly plumber to install a new gas line in my laundry room.” All she had to do was roll in the dryer, plug it in and connect the vent.

She also loved that her newest heat pump model was incredibly energy efficient, using much less power than old electric dryers. She felt good about her choice for the environment, too.
